HOW TO GET TO ELAFONISOS BY FLYING TO ATHENS

Flight to Athens Airport (there are several low-cost flights throughout the year)
Some of the main companies include:

Athens Airport Car Rental (journey time approx. 4 hours)

ROUTE DIRECTIONS:
Having rented a car in Athens, take direction towards Corinth, deviate towards Tripoli/Sparta/Kalamata and follow for Sparta.
After Sparta drive towards Molai/Monemvasia and after Molai towards Neapolis/Elafonissos.
About 20 km before arriving at Neapolis, you will find an indication sign on the right for Elafonissos (you are almost there, only 8 km away from the Pounta Pier).
Finally, a ten-minute ferry transfer will take you to Elafonissos. The ferry in season is available every half hour from 7.00 to 24.00 and tickets can be purchased on site before boarding the ferry, it is not possible to book them online (cost about € 2 per person).

Instead of renting a car, you can travel with – Athens Airport Bus

Head to the regional bus stop located in the Arrivals area, between exits 2 and 3, in front of the Sofitel Airport Hotel and take the bus towards Kifissos Bus Station (cost approximately € 6 and duration approximately 1 hour).
At the terminus, get on the bus to Neapolis, Lakonia (cost around € 37).
Once in Neapolis, reach the Pounta Pier, which is about 15 minutes away (Easier by taxi. Alternatively, a bus line is also available).
Finally take the ten-minute ferry transfer that will take you to Elafonissos. The ferry, in season, is available every half hour from 7.00 to 24.00 and tickets can be purchased on site before boarding the ferry, it is not possible to book them online (cost about € 2 per person).
For those who prefer a car-free holiday, a shuttle service was made available in summer 2021. Departure at different times in the morning and afternoon, with a tour of the whole island and a stop at the main beaches. We hope that this service will last in future.

Alternative to renting a car – Kalamata Airport Bus

From the airport, take the bus towards Neapolis from the airport. In Sparta you have to change bus, check on the timetable on the following link (add link) (duration just over 5 hours).
Once in Neapolis, reach the Pounta Pier which is about 15 minutes away (Easier by taxi. Alternatively, there is a bus line available too).

HOW TO GET TO ELAFONISSOS BY FERRY FROM ITALY

Ferry towards Patras by car / motorbike

By ferry, departing from Venice, Ancona, Bari, Brindisi, en route to PATRAS, with your own vehicle (journey time approximately 21 hours from Ancona).
These ferries are real cruise ships, with cabins, restaurants, bars, swimming pools, shops.
The duration of the trip is certainly longer, but relaxation is guaranteed.

CAR ROUTE DIRECTIONS:

disembarked in Patras, follow the direction to Athens, before Corinth turn towards Tripoli/Sparta/Kalamata and follow the directions to Sparta.
