Beaches

The golden beaches and the turquoise sea with shallow and warm waters make Elafonissos a small paradise in the Mediterranean.

Simos Beach alone is worth the trip to the island. Outlined by two half-moons of almost white sand, it is interrupted by an isthmus that ends in a sandstone promontory, among sand dunes, sea lilies and Mediterranean bushes.
There are two large beaches, one of which has shallow waters for many metres, therefore very suitable for families with small children. Equipped with plenty sunbeds and umbrellas, it is still possible to find tranquility and be enchanted by the sound of the waves. Kiosks and taverns are directly at the entrances of the beaches.

The stunning Panagia beach with its intense blue sea is a wonderful discovery. A little further back from the shore, centuries-old juniper wood offers shelter. In front of the beach, are 3 islets. The sunset is a truly exciting sight, lasting till when the sun disappears behind the Mani peninsula.
Most of the beach remains free and there is a tavern only 200 meters away.

A real gem along the road to Simos Beach is Lefki Beach ( Lefki means ‘white’) a swimming pool-like wonder whose turquoise water’s reverberation embraces this coast of very light-coloured sand. Smaller and wilder than the others and without umbrellas and sunbeds, it is never crowded except on windy days. There are no words to describe it.
